"WHO ARE WE!?!?!"
A question you will hear yelled by a player, or two, on our girls basketball teams. The response you will also hear, from the entire team, is "SAINT SEBASTIAN'S SOLDIERS, BOOM!!!!" Both are yelled just as loud as they can be. It's an expression of passion, enthusiasm, happiness, and togetherness when willing to make a profound spectacle in front of a gymnasium full of people that you know, and don't know. Those are just some examples of the attributes this world needs more of. Our goal, as an organization, is to be a good example of those characteristics, and more. We are looking to be a small blessing to families and communities in the counties we currently serve (Blackford, Delaware, Grant, Hamilton, Huntington, Madison, and Tipton). We do this by providing a program that is free of registration fees and funded by fundraisers, donations, sponsorships, and corporate grants. This allows more children, and their families, the ability to participate in the fun of sports, learn teamwork, and add people to their circle/network. |
SAINT SEBASTIAN

Saint Sebastian's Soldiers is a youth sports organization that strives to be a Christ-first program. This is primarily a homeschool sports organization. However, since
our duty as Christians is to love others as Christ loves us, we DO accept children who are not homeschooled. We accept children who attend Christian schools that do not offer sports or at least the particular sport they would like to participate in. We also accept children who have attempted to make a team at the school they attend, public or private, but were cut from the team. This is an organization ran strictly by volunteers. 100% of the people involved, on a day to day basis in the operation of this program, even the directors and coaches, volunteer their time and receive no compensation for their time, effort, or travel expenses. This is an organization dedicated to the promotion of God, family, and team; in that order. We do not practice or play on Sunday's or Wednesday's. And while we encourage the timely attendance of players, we do not punish players for missing practices or games due to church related activities, family vacations, or work schedule conflicts for parents or players. |
We believe in treating others as we would like to be treated.
We believe in living a way that brings J.O.Y. ( Jesus first, Others second, Yourself third ) to all of our lives. We believe in good manners and curtesy. We believe in good sportsmanship. We believe in the fundamentals of sport and life. We believe in generosity. We believe in gratitude. We believe in appreciation. We believe in building up, not tearing down. We believe in forgiveness. We believe the truth isn't mean, but it does hurt sometimes. |
We think games are more for families than just players.
We think every player should get to play in every game. We think families and friends who come to games should get to see their favorite players play. We think every player should get meaningful minutes, not just "garbage time" minutes. We think NOT every player will receive the same amount of playing time. We think effort should be rewarded over ability. We think the more effort given will result in the more ability attained. We think success's and failures do not necessarily equal wins and losses on the scoreboard. We think success is learning something new and improving on what it was that you already knew, everyday. We think failure is when the best effort hasn't been given. We think games are not won or lost until the game is over. We think, towards the end of a game, if we have a chance to win, our coaches will have the players who have displayed the best effort, for that day, in the game to go for that win. |
